You can connect an AI assistant that supports connectors, such as Claude, to Forward. It can then answer questions from Forward's own numbers: what's left in a category, what bills and paychecks are coming, and where your money went.
Connecting an assistant is part of the founding membership. Every role can connect one, viewers included, and each person connects and manages only their own.
What it can see
When you connect, you choose which budgets the assistant can see, or All budgets, which includes any you create later. It can see categories and what's in them, accounts and balances, transactions, plans and the forecast. One exception: payee names are shared across your household's budgets, so it may see a payee name from a budget you didn't choose.
An assistant can only look. It can't change anything in Forward, and it never sees your bank sign-in or your account numbers. Nothing done in Forward moves money at your bank either. Once the assistant has your data, its maker's terms and privacy policy apply, not Forward's.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting takes effect at once: the assistant loses access to your budgets. The grant and every token under it stop working from the very next call.
To use it with Forward again, you connect it again.
What to do
To connect:
- Open the account menu and choose Connected apps.
- Under Connect an assistant, tap Copy to copy the address.
- In your assistant, add Forward as a connector with that address. In Claude, that's Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Sign in to Forward when it asks, choose the budgets it can see, and tap Allow.
To disconnect, open Connected apps, tap Disconnect on the assistant's card, and confirm.
