Everyone in a household shares its budgets. Each person has one role, and Roles are household-wide and apply uniformly across every budget in the household
. You can't let someone see one budget and not another.
The three roles
- Owner: everything, including managing members and disconnecting any bank. The person who created the household is its owner.
- Member: everything except managing members. A member can fund categories, approve transactions, close a month and connect their own bank.
- Viewer: can see the budget and reports but can't change them. A viewer can still connect their own AI assistant.
Only the owner can invite or remove people, or change someone's role.
Inviting someone
Inviting a second person is free. A third person is part of the founding membership: without it, once your household has two people (an invitation you've sent counts), the Invite someone card says so instead of showing the form.
Forward doesn't send the invitation by email. You send the link yourself, by text or email, however you'd normally reach them. The person joins when they sign in with the address you invited and accept. If they already have a Forward budget of their own, they choose what happens to it before joining: Bring my budget with me or Leave it behind. Either way, nothing in it is deleted.
Removing someone
Removing a person takes away their access from their next request. Their history stays: anything they did is still attributed to them, and you can invite them back later. Any bank they connected is unlinked when they leave, and the accounts turn manual and keep every transaction

What to do
To invite someone:
- Open the account menu and choose Household.
- In Invite someone, type their email address and pick Member or Viewer.
- Tap Add invitation. It appears under Invitations as pending.
- Tap Copy invite link on that row and send the link to them.
To change a role, pick Member or Viewer beside the person under Members. To take someone out, tap Remove, then confirm. To withdraw an invitation nobody has accepted yet, tap Cancel on its row.
