Forward can't connect to Apple Card today. You can still budget with it: you bring its transactions in from a file you download from Apple.
Why it won't connect
Banks let apps like Forward connect through a secure sign-in window, and that is how Connect a bank works. Apple Card doesn't offer that. Apple shares its transactions only with approved apps on your iPhone, and Forward doesn't have an iPhone app yet. A search for "Apple Card" in the bank window won't help, and nothing you change on your side will either. The same is true for Apple Cash and Savings from Apple.
What to do
- On your iPhone, open Wallet, tap your Apple Card, then Card Balance, and choose a monthly statement. Follow Apple's instructions to export its transactions as a file (Apple's support page "See your Apple Card spending history" has the current steps).
- In Forward, open Accounts, tap +, and choose Add account manually. Name it "Apple Card", pick the credit card type and enter the balance you owe on the date you choose.
- On that account's ··· menu, tap Import CSV and choose the file.
- Match each column to a field in the preview: Date, Payee, the amount, and so on. Choose Separate outflow / inflow if the file has two amount columns. Where there is one amount column, spending needs to come in as a negative number. Some card files show purchases as positive, so check the preview before you tap Start import.
- Tap Start import. Rows that are already in the account are skipped, so you can import next month's statement the same way without doubling anything up. Approve the new rows from Transactions as you would any others.
A manual account only knows what you give it, so repeat steps 1, 3 and 4 when a new statement is ready. When the balance in Forward doesn't match Apple's, use Reconcile on the account's ··· menu.
Your other banks can still be connected, and cards that won't connect for other reasons are covered in Sam's Club and other store cards.
