When a deposit matches one of your incomes on the Income screen, Forward drafts how to split it across your categories. Nothing is funded until you confirm. A deposit you approve as income that matches none of your incomes gets the same kind of draft.
Where a waiting paycheck shows
- In Notifications, as "Paycheck of $1,800.00 arrived for October 2026". Tap Review this paycheck →.
- On the Budget tab, as a line under Left to fund reading "$1,800.00 awaiting confirmation". Tap it.
- On the Transactions tab, as an Awaiting funding confirmation badge on the deposit.
Until you confirm or dismiss, the paycheck is not counted in Left to fund.
The Paycheck Planner
Each of those opens the Paycheck Planner, in two parts:
- Fixed & Known holds your Fixed categories, the bills whose amounts Forward can work out. It starts collapsed, showing its total. If the paycheck can't cover them, it opens by itself and its header names the gap.
- Discretionary holds everything else. A category saving for a bill that comes less often than monthly proposes its catch-up amount (see Bills that come less often than monthly); the rest start at $0.00 for you to fill in.
You can change any amount. The change applies to this paycheck only.
Example. Sam's $1,800.00 paycheck lands on 10/01. Fixed & Known proposes $925.00 for Rent, and Discretionary proposes $46.88 for Car insurance. The footer reads "$828.12 left to allocate" and "Funding $971.88 of $1,800.00 · anything left stays assignable" ($1,800.00 − $971.88 = $828.12). Adding $400.00 to Groceries and $150.00 to Dining out funds $1,521.88 and leaves $278.12.
Confirm or dismiss
- Confirm funding funds each category by its amount. What you didn't allocate goes to Left to fund, ready to fund later.
- Dismiss funds nothing from this paycheck:
a dismiss is a confirm with nothing allocated
. The whole paycheck goes to Left to fund. No money is lost.
Either way, the paycheck now counts in its month. A month can't be closed while one of its paychecks is still waiting. Confirming changes your budget in Forward only; nothing moves at your bank.
What to do
If a paycheck has arrived but Left to fund hasn't gone up:
- Open Notifications and find the paycheck's card.
- Tap Review this paycheck →.
- Check the amounts, then tap Confirm funding, or Dismiss to keep it all unallocated.
If there is no paycheck card, the deposit may still be waiting for you to approve it as income in Notifications. Once it is approved, its card follows.
